Here you will find technical resources and installation documents for our products. We are working hard to add new installation manuals to our site so bare with us as we are adding them daily.
1. First analyze the back of the headlights on the motorcycle, ATV or UTV and figure out (if necessary) what part(s) to remove in order to remove/install the bulbs. Note, there is no right or wrong way to go about doing this. For example, depending on the model, some have removed the side panel on the dash, the fairing, and/or the nacelle. Again every model will be different on how to make accessing the bulb easiest.
2. The back of the headlight assembly will have either a rubber or plastic protective cap. Once removed, the bulb socket will be exposed. Certain models will have the electrical prongs run through the rubber or plastic protective cap in order to connect to the headlamp plug.
3. In this instance, since the HID bulb does not have this connection, a 1" inch hole needs to be cut in the protective cap for the wires leading from the bulb to the ballast (this is where the grommet would fit).
4. Undue the metal clamp holding the halogen bulb in, and proceed to take the halogen bulb out.
5. Compare the plastic bulb holder on the base of the stock halogen bulb to that of the HID bulb. Make sure that they are the same. If the HID plastic bulb holder does not replicate that of the halogen bulb holder, get a drill to shave down the oversized plastic pieces on the HID. When you look down on top of both bulbs, you will be able to easily tell when the proper size has been reached (pics will be posted to help clarify).
6. Once accomplished, the HID bulb will fit back in the assembly snug as it should. Be sure NOT to touch the HID bulb with your fingers, as this could damage the product.
7. At this point, run the wires through the hole of the protective cap (if one was drilled). The rubber grommet will fit in the one inch drilled hole. Some silicone is recommended as a precautionary measure, however it is not necessary. If no hole was necessary to drill, the rubber grommet is of no use.
8. Now we can mount the ballast. The only things that should be needed here would be zip ties and/or double sided sticky tape. The double sided sticky tape is included in the kit. Note, there are more than one ways to mount and balance the ballast. As long as you mount the ballast in a secure location and everything is plugged in it will work.
9. Connect the two male and female plugs on the bulb to the two connections on the ballast. Plug the end of the power harness into the ballast, and the other end into the stock harness containing power and ground. ( Note: If everything is connected and the lights do not come on, switch this connection around 180 degrees and re-connect to the ballast. Power and ground are reversed on different make and models. )
10. Clean up any lose wires with zip ties and make sure ballast is secure. Put whatever components you removed back on the bike and and enjoy your ride.
